Believe Women

Dear readers, I think it’s pretty clear where my politics lie. In 2016, I was stunned when the piece of human waste named Trump was elected to the most powerful position in our country. Frankly, I always considered this “man” to be a piece of garbage, a grifter, a liar. Anyone with a brain could see that. Sadly, many people in this country believe everything that they are told. He was a “successful businessman” who had gone bankrupt four times. He was a “champion for the working man” who had a long, documented history of stiffing contractors. He was a “protector of women” who was on record as stating he could grab women by the pussy.

In 2016, there were a lot of Americans who had a really hard time accepting the leadership of the Obama administration and definitely were not ready for a woman to take the helm. Misogyny in America is pervasive and limitless. It is my own personal belief is that in a country as racist as America, it says a LOT about how much we do not value or trust women that we elected a black man before we elected a woman to the highest office of the land. Also note, I am and continue to be a big fan of Barack Obama.

Side bar, I am a big fan of the card game Euchre. I’ve been playing for what feels like my entire life. One of the key tenets of this game is to call up trump, the suit with the most “power.” I cannot count how many college nights were spent playing with MaryAnn, Wally, Murph, Paul, Boomer, Joe, and Kara. Nights when I should have been perhaps studying or finishing one of the thousands of papers I seemed to write was all too often sitting at a scarred table in the suite room hoping for a loner hand. How many times did one of say “what’s trump” because it was 3am and it was our 23rd game that night? I hereby submit that we now call trump something better. I think we should call it “Gavin.” Please refer to my previous post for more detail on the reasons.

I find Trump voters to be at the very least ignorant, plain and simple. Fed a steady diet of Fox News, they do not know the truth about much of anything. They just know fear. Fear of others not like them. Fear of losing their freedom. Not sure what freedom they think they will lose, other than the freedom to be racist, xenophobic, misogynistic, transphobic or homophobic in public without someone calling them out on their nastiness. No maga has ever been able to really explain. They do not grasp that rights and freedom for people that are not white and not male have literally no impact on them at all. As we liberals like you say, freedom is not pie, there’s an in limited supply for everyone. Also, a gentle reminder, Fox “news” had to pay out $787 million to settle a misinformation lawsuit, admitting they were not a news provider, simply an entertainment channel. Walter Cronkite would roll over in his grave if he ever watched the channel. Believing anything they air would be like believing me when I tell you that the Tardis is real and there is in fact a way to weave an invisibility cloak.

The country is now faced with a new dilemma. Do we believe women? How many women have to speak up in order to be believed?

For years, there has been discussion about Jeffrey Epstein and the utterly horrific things he did to underage girls. These girls, now women, have come forward and made their voices heard. They have stood on the steps of congress to try and convince the American public that they deserve justice. Yet, the orange slug sitting in his gaudily decorated oval office would have you believe it’s another hoax, another witch hunt. But ask yourself, how many pictures of he and Epstein together does it take to believe that these two were friends? That, given previous accusations as well as convictions, Trump certainly participated in the assault of these girls. Trump has been accused of sexual assault 18 times, including by a 13 year old girl. Occam’s razor anyone?

Here’s the thing; I am also reasonably certain Bill Clinton is implicated in all this as well. For that, he should also face prosecution and consequences. If Barack Obama and Gavin Newsom were implicated, I would be all over their prosecution as well. Justice should be applied EQUALLY to Republicans as well as Democrats. No one is above the law. Trump should fry for this right alongside Prince Andrew, Bill Clinton and anyone else on the list. Anyone coming to their defense is blind or frankly in a cult. They probably also own a trump bible, or his stupid NFTs or his hideous cologne.

If we BELIEVED WOMEN, there would be no need to release the Epstein files. We already know who is in them. They have all been named. Repeatedly.

If we BELIEVED WOMEN, this piece of garbage would never have gotten to the White House.

If we BELIEVED WOMEN, two Supreme Court Justices would not be enjoying a job on the highest court in the land, actively seeking to take away my rights and the rights of my daughters.

If we BELIEVED WOMEN, Bill Clinton would have been removed from office. Monica Lewinsky would not have been made into a total pariah, a national punchline.

If we BELIEVED WOMEN, no one would ever ask any of us again what we were wearing and what we were doing that led to our sexual assault.

If we BELIEVED WOMEN, no one would ask us how much we had to drink or how much skin we were showing.

If we BELIEVED WOMEN, sexual violence would be reported more often and more perpetrators would be convicted.

If we BELIEVED WOMEN, orders of protection and restraining orders would be enforced and taken seriously.

If we BELIEVED WOMEN, male physicians would take the reported symptoms of women seriously, leading to proper diagnosis and treatment.

Don’t think any of those things above are true? Well you’re out on the internet right now; I challenge you to look it up. Now.
